By Malik Ojuri Apr 27, 2017
Brother Carter and Ojuri were invited to the formal award banquet for all of the strongest and most decorated leaders on campus. The Student Organization Award Reception, commonly known as the SOAR Awards, had more than 40 organizations represented on campus with various leaders with various talents at one event. The SOAR Awards is held once a year and works as an awards banquet and a networking event for the elite of the university. To receive an invitation is an administrative nod for your hard work over time. Brother Ojuri was honored to be nominated for the highest award of Emerging Leader of the Year. This award had a rigorous vetting process to find the best group of nominees and the eventual winner. President Carter was invited based on his intensive involvement with the Office of Student Life. Carter vowed that the fraternity would be back with more nominees and leave with some hardware. Brother Ojuri cited his nomination as a great way to cap off his collegiate career. He went on to state that the last four years have been rewarding and challenging and it was all worth it to see his family in the chapter grow.
