Kappa Beta Hosts Awards and Alumni Banquet (Troy 20180412)

The chapter’s annual Awards and Alumni Banquet was held on Saturday, April 7, and was a great time to celebrate the chapter’s accomplishments over the past year. Over 175 brothers, pledges, alumni, parents, and guests gathered at the Pike County Cattleman’s Association for the event hosted on Saturday. We were honored to have Brother Jeep Sullivan and his wife, Meg, in attendance, as they spoke about Walk Hard and expressed sincere thanks to the men in the chapter who had participated in this year’s walk who raised over $62,000 for wounded veterans. In addition to the annual awards given to outstanding brothers, the outgoing seniors, chapter 4.0 GPA’s and the previous year’s president were publicly recognized and thanked for their hard work. This is the first year that the chapter has instituted this, and it is one of the many steps that this executive board has taken to improve the chapter. We had good alumni attendance at this event, especially from those brothers who have graduated in the past 3 years. I see this as a positive sign that these young alumni are excited about the chapter and want to give back in any way they can. I was absolutely honored and humbled to receive the first-ever Dr. James Orendorff Alumni of the Year Award, which was named for our later chapter advisor who was instrumental in helping to establish the chapter in its formative years. It was truly impressive to see all that the chapter has accomplished over the course of the past year. Looking back over the course of the past six years, I see this year’s group of men as being some of the most dedicated and leadership-focused brothers that Kappa Beta has ever produced.
