Widener Says No More Day 1! (Widener 20160315)

Due to the hard work and dedication of brother Bryan Soloman, Widener Says No More is officially underway. The first day had consisted of a showing of the movie “Telling Amy’s Story”. The movie had been about a woman named Amy Horman McGee, a victim of domestic abuse. the movie followed the timeline of Amy’s life and how her partner had abused her over the course of many years and tragically lead to her death. The movie had been shown to raise awareness to students and understand the ways as to which students and people all around can determine how to stop domestic abuse, what are the signs that abuse is occurring and how the judicial system handles domestic abuse. After the movie a discussion had been held by Brother Soloman and Professor Sarah Nicksa a criminal justice professor and former rape and domestic abuse councilor. This informative day is only the first of five with a multitude of speakers and many more events that students can partake in.
