Brother Webb Melder to Chair Municipal Revenue & Finance Committee of Texas Municipal League

The Municipal Revenue & Finance Committee formulates positions of legislation scheduled for presentation in the 2011 Texas legislature.
“The Texas Municipal League does a great job representing the cities throughout Texas and I consider it an honor to chair this prestigious committee,” said brother Melder upon learning of his appointment by Frank Sturzl, Executive Director of the Texas Municipal League.
Topics that are expected to be on the Municipal Revenue & Finance Committee agenda are revenue caps, appraisal caps, calculation of property tax rates, appraisal appeals, sales tax issues, economic development municipal bonds and other debt, hotel occupancy tax, investments and more. Sixty Texas cities will be represented on this committee.
Brother Melder has been involved in the hiring of a full-time Finance Director and an Internal Auditor for the Texas Municipal League, as well as the monthly publication of a financial statement that is reported publicly each month to the Conroe city council.
