Indiana recognized for excellence in civic engagement

Mar 19, 2013

INDIANA (Delta Alpha)–On March 3, 2013, Indiana University held its Annual Greek Awards, recognizing the Indiana Delta Alpha chapter of Alpha Tau Omega with the Interfraternity Council (IFC) Civic Engagement Excellence Award.

The Annual Greek Awards are based on the five Pillars of Excellence that include the shared core values of individual fraternities and sororities as well as that of the entire fraternity and sorority community. These Pillars include Brotherhood and Sisterhood, Intellectual Development, Civic Engagement, Values Integration and Leadership Development. The Pillars of Excellence were created to challenge organizations to become more purposeful in their activities, provide more meaningful experiences for their members, and better align their organizations with their missions as well as the mission of Indiana University. The Councils will be encouraging chapters to incorporate the Pillars of Excellence into goal-setting and leadership development, as well as utilizing them in strategic planning. Council leadership will also be utilizing the Pillars of Excellence as they plan programs, create educational opportunities, and lead their council communities.
