Showcasing a prominent leader within the Gamma Theta chapter is VP McClain Burton. He graduated from Air Assault School on Sep. 6, 2022. Now being “Air Assault Qualified,” he will wear the Air Assault wings on the left chest of his uniform for the remainder of his career in the Army. To get where McClain is now, he competed against others in Lincoln and his brigade to receive a slot to go to Air Assault School. This included an Order of Merit List, which considers physical fitness scores, GPA, and extracurricular activities. He also had to compete in a 4-mile run and a 12-mile ruck. Once there, requirements to pass included: an obstacle course, 2-mile run, 4-mile run, 6-mile ruck, a 12-mile ruck, two written tests over helicopters and sling loads, a sling load hands-on test, repel on a wall tower (34ft), an open-side tower (34ft), and out of a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter (60ft).
