Brother Lopes coordinates German Club lecture about Maine during WWII (Maine Orono 20160420)

Brother Ryan Lopes (back row far right) is the President of the UMaine German Club and recently combined their efforts with the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity to host lecturer Susan Bailey at the University of Maine campus on April 14th. Susan’s father Milton Bailey was an occupation specialist in the U.S. Army stationed in Maine during WWII. Susan spoke about her father’s experiences at Camp Houlton in Northern Maine. From 1944 to 1946, there were more than 1,100 German POW’s. It was a fascinating lecture that provided students and members of the public with primary source documents and valuable insight into a part of Maine’s history. We are proud of the level of work Brother Lopes put into this event, and the dedication all of our brothers have within other clubs around campus.
