New Mexico - Eta Kappa

The Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity went above in beyond with a recent philanthropy project to help UNM Children’s Hospital. Their philanthropy chair, Alexander Kapp aimed to collect needed materials such as toys, books, and clothing. They decided to take it one step further by also making handmade fleece tie blankets for every kid in the Children’s Hospital! However with a project this large it could not be accomplished through one organization, it was with the help of several other organizations, both Greek and Non-Greek that made the impossible a reality. With the help of Phi Delta Theta, Chi Omega, Kappa Kappa Gamma, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, LoboTHON and Alpha Chi Omega an estimated 100 toys, 300 books, 175 articles of clothing and 100 blankets were donated. Representatives from each group had the joy and honor of providing these items to all of the sick and injured kids at UNM Children’s Hospital. Going room-to-room bringing kids happiness and even putting a smile to the parent’s faces, was one of the most rewarding experiences to be had. Through large projects like this and coming together as one campus we can really make a difference wherever our community needs us most.
