Virginia Tech – Theta Delta Chapter – Sweetheart Spotlight

This edition of Sweetheart Spotlight is dedicated to Madison Batts. Maddi was introduced to the men of the Theta Delta chapter during her freshman year thanks to her friend, brother Griffin Buscavage. When asked about her first impression of ATO, Maddi responded, “Everyone was so welcoming and were the type of people I wanted to surround myself with. I could really tell the guys were genuine and wanted to get to know me.” Maddi became a sweetheart in 2017, during the spring of her sophomore year. Her favorite memories include bonding with the brothers at the Myrtle Beach formal trip, Virginia Tech football tailgates, and Thursday nights downtown at Big Al’s. Maddi contributes to the fraternity by helping build a relationship between ATO and her sorority ADPi, which she is the president of. Being an extension of the brotherhood, she is constantly involved and is always going out of her way to help whenever she can. She believes that especially as a senior she has a responsibility to help the new sweethearts become part of the brotherhood, as well as teach them how to carry out the values of the fraternity. Many people believe that members of fraternities become less involved their senior year, but that is not the case with the Theta Delta chapter, especially with our sweethearts. Maddi loves to stay involved and meet the new members and is still as excited now as she was her sophomore year to be a part of the brotherhood. We are grateful that we’ve had the opportunity to have Maddi as a part of our fraternity these past few years, and she is prime example of the kind of women we strive to have as sweethearts in the Theta Delta chapter of Alpha Tau Omega.
