Friday, October 7th was a big day for the Gamma Sigma chapter. After a week of campaigning and fundraising, it was time for Alpha Phi’s Annual Heartthrob event. Our contestant this year was sophomore, Matthew Neuffer. We started the week with a strong lead of votes on the first day and maintained the momentum all the way through to the event. In total, we raised and contributed $2900 to the event. Because we won, we split the total event proceeds between the Alpha Phi Foundation and the charity of our choice. As a chapter, we will be giving our half to Special Olympics. In total, the event raised $6300, so $3150 to each charity. The event was made up of three rounds: Formal/Intro, Questions, and finally talent. For his talent, Matt chose to do slam poetry, in which he put his own twist on Dr. Seuss’s “One Fish, Two Fish”.
