UA President Congratulates Beta Delta Chapter (Alabama 20170903)

The Beta Delta chapter was pleased to welcome University of Alabama President Dr. Stuart Bell, Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. David Grady, and many members of the chapter’s Board of Trustees to the ATO house for a celebratory dinner. Dr. Bell congratulated Beta Delta for winning the national fraternity’s Top Chapter Award at the 2017 Fall Awards Banquet in Indianapolis. Bell remarked that “being a champion requires a lot,” and the chapter has been “great in the classroom and great in how [we] act and serve.” He continued that “we want to be known for our character at the University of Alabama,” and he believes the Beta Delta chapter is an excellent representation of the character the University hopes to portray. Dr. Grady addressed the men of ATO with a powerful message: “the page is blank.” He challenged the chapter to “continue to do those things that got us this award in the future” and walk with integrity every day. Dr. Grady addressed the potential new members to uphold the “great tradition that we have here at ATO,” and concluded that the administration looks forward to seeing “all the great things that happen at ATO in the future.” Accomplishments that contributed to Beta Delta’s Top Chapter award this year include: Most Outstanding IFC Chapter, the 2nd highest GPA among IFC fraternities (3.46), 3,800 service hours and $44,241 donated to philanthropy, and a longstanding tradition of leadership and involvement on campus and in the Tuscaloosa community. 2016-2017 was truly a special time for the Beta Delta chapter, and we look forward to growing stronger as chapter and a brotherhood in the years to come.
