ATO Brother Sam Chafe to Accompany University President on Statewide Leadership Tour
“This summer has been one for the books so far,” said Chafe, who was raised in Kennewick, Wash. “It’s going be pretty epic; it’ll be something I will never forget. I’m excited to bring my talents to the trip.”
He begins the adventure by driving to Boise this Thursday, “seeing parts of Idaho that won’t be on the tour,” noted Chafe. “I’m excited to spend the time with our new ASUI president and vice president, Samantha Perez and Juan Corona, and Tim Helmke, who is the associate director of alumni relations. I was told to be prepared for awesomeness.”
Chafe joins Nellis beginning Friday, June 24, and will travel some 1,500 miles through Idaho communities statewide before returning to Moscow on June 30. He’ll interact with business leaders, university alumni and friends, students and their families, the media, and faculty and staff, among others.
He’ll blog about his experiences and observations, and post photos and video from each day’s activities at http://presidentialtour.uidaho.edu.
Chafe has had a full collegiate experience. He is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and held several leadership positions in the house, including alumni relations chair, Relay-4-Life chair, new membership education chair, philanthropy committee, worthy chaplain and vice president.
Chafe also had an internship in the university’s Communications and Marketing department. He wrote news releases and web features, provided media staffing at events, directed photo shoots and more.
“This Leadership Tour provides me with an amazing opportunity that will benefit me in my professional life for years to come,” he noted.
