Brotherhood Built Through Discipline: Harut Wins National Collegiate Judo Championship

Alpha Tau Omega is proud to recognize Brother Harut for an incredible achievement this spring: winning the National Collegiate Judo Championship and rising to #4 in the United States rankings.

Competing in the tournament for the first time, Harut entered with one goal: to test himself against the nation’s best while preparing for upcoming international competition at Pan Ams and Worlds. He delivered a statement performance.

“This win silenced a lot of doubters,” Harut said following the tournament.

His championship run was built on months of discipline and sacrifice. While many spent spring break relaxing, Harut stayed committed to training, using the time to sharpen the technical side of his game and prepare for the biggest collegiate competition of his career.

That preparation showed on the mat. Harut relied on strategy, adaptability, and technical precision, countering each opponent’s style rather than forcing his own pace. Combined with an intense weight cut of nearly 10 kilos, the most of his career, his work culminated in a national title.
