What started as a simple stem cell registry drive at the University of Alabama turned into an unforgettable moment for Alpha Tau Omega brothers Max and Garrett.

After joining the registry during an Alpha Tau Omega swab drive in 2025, both brothers were later identified as stem cell matches for patients battling blood cancer. Without hesitation, each agreed to donate.

By an incredible coincidence, the two were scheduled to make their donations at the same South Florida collection center on the very same day, where they unexpectedly crossed paths in the hallway.

Their story highlights the lasting impact of Alpha Tau Omega’s commitment to service. A quick cheek swab led to two opportunities to give patients a second chance at life—a reminder that even the simplest act can make an extraordinary difference.
