Ball State Tau crowned Homecoming King

Oct 8, 2010

The 415 participants in this year’s Air Jam weren’t the only ones dancing and singing Thursday night.

Emens Auditorium had a full house watching 21 acts as they attempted to win one of the prestigious Air Jam awards.

Jenna Day, Air Jam chairwoman, said Air Jam is the most anticipated event of Homecoming Week for a reason.

“It has a lot of creativity,” Day said. “With up to 20 people in a group, you could be dancing with your best friends or people you don’t even know, especially with some of the fraternities and sororities teaming up.”

As usual, Air Jam tickets sold out. People in the audience were singing and screaming for their favorite acts. Some were even getting out of their seats and dancing.

Air Jam requires each act to have five to 20 members. Each group pieced together song clips to dance and lip sync to.

Senior Michael Humphrey, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, said it wasn’t easy bringing home a win in the greek category for the third year in a row.

“We really just tried to out do ourselves once again,” Humphrey said. “Me and the brothers just sat down and tried to find something that would work. We practiced three times a week.”

After all 21 acts performed, the 2010 Homecoming king and queen were announced. John Towle of Alpha Tau Omega and Morgan Smith of Chi Omega were crowned.
