Rose-Hulman ATOs spearhead charitable Greek Night

Jan 12, 2010

Members of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology’s fraternities and sororities will join together Wednesday to gather food items from campus and community groups to help replenish Terre Haute’s Catholic Charities Food Bank.

Anyone planning to attend the Rose-Hulman men’s basketball game against Anderson University is asked to bring nonperishable food items to the “Greek Night Game,” which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Hulbert Arena of the Sports and Recreation Center.

Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) fraternity members will collect the items and deliver them to Catholic Charities officials. Monetary donations also will be accepted.

Each donated food item will be rewarded with a raffle ticket. Raffle winners will be announced during halftime and throughout the second half. Pizza and soft drinks will be served to Rose-Hulman Greek members attending the game.

Catholic Charities Director John Etling says donations to the food bank are crucial in this post-holiday period, when need is still great and freezing winter temperatures bring people to request services from local agencies. Catholic Charities is a direct services agency for the poor, the homeless, the elderly, neglected children and other needy people.

Greek Night has been organized by ATO, and endorsed by the interfraternity and sorority panhellenic councils.
