Two Gamma Rho Alumni to Appear on ABC’s Hit Show “Shark Tank”

Oct 4, 2012

GAMMA RHO (Missouri) — Two local Kansas City entrepreneurs, Kevin and Brian Fleming, ’94 and ’96 initiates of the Gamma Rho chapter at the University of Missouri respectively, will be swimming with the “Sharks” this week. The brothers, both Kansas City natives, are set to appear on the hit ABC show “Shark Tank” this Friday, October 5th at 7:00 p.m. CST. The duo will be showcasing their new invention BagBowl, a one-of-a-kind exoskeleton that turns an ordinary zipper bag into a bowl.

ABC’s “Shark Tank” is the number one rated show on Friday nights, averaging approximately six million viewers. Hopefulentrepreneurs pitch their products to a panel of five “Sharks” including NBA Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, FUBU founder Daymond John, and the queen of QVC Lori Greiner.

“We are thrilled that the producers of Shark Tank saw a new and unique product in BagBowl and gave us the opportunity of a lifetime to pitch to the Sharks,” said BagBowl cofounder Kevin Fleming.

The BagBowl can turn any size zipper bag into a bowl. With a proliferation of storage solutions filling cupboards and drawers, BagBowl was designed to provide a convenient and streamlined solution for food storage and serving. BagBowl is also a great snack serving solution for busy parents and kids on the go, and it works wonders for your pet and travel needs.

“There is a reason they don’t call it the ‘kitty tank’! It is very real and very serious when you get inside the Shark Tank,” said cofounder Brian Fleming. “It was quite an experience and we hope that other local entrepreneurs tune in Friday to see the show.”

To celebrate the “Shark Tank” episode, consumers can purchase a special BagBowl Shark Tank Value Pack for $8.99 at www.buybagbowl.com. The BagBowl Shark Tank Value Pack comes with four different BagBowl sizes – two gallon, one gallon, quart size and snack size.

For the Fleming brothers, the entrepreneurial spirit runs deep. After college, they teamed up to found and run successful event marketing and staffing company in San Francisco, California. Kevin followed his passion into product development and has since launched two new products – the Paw Clean Canine Footbath, which is available at Target stores nationwide and the Spill-Stopper Training Cup from Daddio Designs, a line of innovative children’s products Kevin invented and is launching this month at the ABC Kids Trade Show. Brian, who is no stranger to TV having appeared on the Wheel of Fortune in 2002, continued to run and expand the marketing and staffing company they founded when he moved back in Kansas City in 2005.
