FSU Tau to Assume Chairmanship of Seminole Boosters, Inc.

Oct 10, 2012

EPSILON SIGMA (Florida State) — Florida State University alumnus Gene Ready, Epsilon Sigma ’64, will assume the Chairmanship of Seminole Boosters, Inc. in 2013. Seminole Boosters is one of the most successful collegiate fundraising organizations in the country. Ready lettered in baseball at FSU and was elected to the Florida Legislature in 1976 where he represented Polk County for eight years. He and his wife Barbara live in Polk County where he is the CEO of Ready Capital Group. He is a generous donor to the University, and has established a named Scholarship for Seminole Baseball.

Why do you want to be Chairman of Seminole Boosters, Inc?
“I did not seek this office but I am honored to be asked to serve. When I was approached about becoming Chairman of the Board my first thought was what a wonderful opportunity to give back to my University. Life has been good to me and I have done well. If I can further enrich the University that gave me my start, and if I can encourage others to support our magnificent student-athletes, then I will embrace that leadership role with passion.”

Why are you involved with Seminole Boosters?

“When I arrived at Florida State I had a change of socks and literally just about enough money to buy lunch. I had nothing. But Florida State believed in me, gave me the chance to play college baseball and provided me with a first class education. I know first-hand about the value of scholarships to student-athletes who may not be able to even dream of college without that financial support.”

What is your relationship with Epsilon Sigma Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega?
“I am fortunate that the Brothers of Alpha Tau Omega took me in as a freshman and sustained me during a very challenging time in my life. I know there is something of great value in the ATO experience because the men who accepted me as a Brother so long ago are now among the most prominent professional, political and business leaders in the State of Florida.”*
