North-American Interfraternity Conference honors ATO with 2013 Laurel Wreath Award

The Laurel Wreath Award is presented to individuals or groups in recognition of unique programs, collaborations, or outreach that have advanced the mission of fraternity. The Laurel Wreath Award is meant to bring attention and awareness to fraternal pursuits that are in the best traditions of our trade association.
The NIC is pleased to announce the presentation of the 2013 Laurel Wreath Award to the following NIC Member Organizations:
- Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity for the Civic Engagement Conference: a thought-provoking leadership development weekend focused on civic engagement training and programming to prepare the leaders of tomorrow.
- Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity for ATO Trends: an innovative predictive modeling tool that integrates scientific data and analysis to strengthen the ATO experience within chapters.
- Delta Upsilon Fraternity for the Global Service Initiative: a hands-on philanthropic program focused on building better men for a global society through service, leadership development, and lifelong personal growth.
NIC President & CEO Pete Smithhisler stated, “These member organizations have led the way in providing cutting-edge programs and initiatives to improve the undergraduate fraternity experience. We are honored to highlight these accomplishments as best practices for the entire conference’s betterment.”
The recipients of the 2013 Laurel Wreath Awards will receive their awards and showcase their initiatives during the “Laurel Wreath Presentations” to occur at 3:30pm on Sunday, April 14, 2013 during the NIC Annual Meeting. Among the other honors presented at the NIC Annual Meeting are the Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and the Awards of Distinction. Recognition plays an important role within trade associations around the world. In the United States one need only to look as far as the American Bar Association, American Council on Education, or even the Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors Association. In each of these very diverse groups, as in the NIC, one will find a membership body that places great value in the sharing of best practices, recognition of outstanding service, and improving on past performance.
Founded in 1909, the North-American Interfraternity Conference is the trade association representing 75 international and national men’s fraternities. Through advocacy, collaboration, and education the NIC works to ensure that fraternities can operate in an environment conducive to their success.
