ISU Taus helping Haiti

Alpha Tau Omega raised money for the efforts to help Haiti during the Indiana State University basketball games this weekend.

ISU’s Alpha Tau Omega President Cody Barlow helped organize the event after an idea was proposed during their last meeting as a group.

“It was brought up in chapter last Sunday that we should try to raise some money to help out down there,” said Barlow, a sophomore criminology and criminal justice major.

Barlow then contacted Ron Prettyman, ISU’s athletic director, to arrange donations during the games held over the weekend.

“Prettyman was more than willing to allow us to raise money at the games and even made announcements before the games and during half time,” he said.

The fraternity donated all the proceeds to the American Red Cross.

Barlow said the exact amount of the donation is unknown and the fraternity will know next week how much money they raised.

Colin Bennett, a freshman business major, was touched by the efforts his organization put forth during the games.

“It was great to get out and help out anyway we can,” Bennett said. “Any contribution big or small makes a difference.”

Brett Arnold, a sophomore business management major, said the disaster opened his eyes and persuaded him to help in any way he could.
